Daughter of an American Patriot Marker in Springfield, Illinois

On May 9, 1978, Springfield Chapter placed a National Society DAR Marker on the gravesite of Sarah Arnold Churchill, at Bissell Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Sarah was born about 1780 in Woodford County, Kentucky, and died October 1817 at Bissell, Illinois. Sarah's father was Sgt. John Arnold of Virginia, who fought in the Revolutionary War. The marker was presented by Ethel Churchill Britton, Regent from Walla Walla Chapter, Washington. Take Illinois 55 North to Route 54 (exit 100 A). Follow Route 54 East and turn right at Colt Road (County road marker 3.75). Follow Colt Road a short way to find Bissell Cemetery across from Bissell United Methodist Church.
