MEETINGS

Monthly meetings are scheduled on weeknights, September through May, at subway-accessible Manhattan locations.  Meetings cover not only planning and business matters, but include guest speakers' presentations on a range of topics of interest to the chapter, such as:

 

  • The role of the DAR at the Ellis Island Immigration Station and the status of Ellis Island Preservation Activities.
  • "Tips, Tricks and Traps" for family history research and online genealogical databases.
  • Strategies that historical documentary producers/writers/directors use to capture and present history and bring it alive for a modern audience.
  • Interactive discussion with a professional etiquette consultant.
  • ROTC schools and West Point.
  • Author-historian guest speakers' presentations on historical figures.
