Revolutionary Soldiers in 
Tipton Family Cemetery,
Knox and Blount County line, TN

   

Tipton Family Cemetery. Located off of Highway 129 in the Lakemont area of Blount County on private property. Cemetery has two gravesite markers and at least ten graves marked with fieldstones. Public access road is no longer in existence. Property owner's permission was obtained before the hike up the hill in 30-degree weather to locate the graves.

  

William "Fighting Billy" Tipton. Born 13 February 1761 in Shenandoah, VA. He was the fourth son of John Tipton. Died 3 November 1849, in Knox Co. TN. Pensioned for VA Service. Married: 1) unknown; (2) Phoebe Moore, in Beckford Parrish, VA, in 1785. She was the widow of Dr. James Moore. 

Peter Brakebill, Sr.  Gravesite located on private property, across the creek from Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
