Text on marker: "In memory of Elizabeth Paxton Houston, died 9-8-1831, in her 74th year. Member of Bakers Creek Church. Mother of General Sam Houston. Erected by the Elizabeth Paxton Houston Society, Children of the American Revolution, 11-8-1942."
