Revolutionary Soldiers in 
Big Spring Cemetery
Blount County, TN

Located nine miles west of Maryville, on Big Spring Road,  leading to Friendsville. The ground was donated by the Walkers of Big Spring, about 1805. Corner stone in Church "1805-1867-1923." There are about 100 graves marked with field stones and 200 unmarked.
Robert Sterling. Born 9-22-1759, near Pine Ford, PA. Died 1844, Blount County, TN. Married Margaret Gillespie. Marked by chapter in 1976.

John Walker.  Born 1747, Antrim, Ireland. Died 1837, Blount County, TN. Married Mary Rowan 1779, Cumberland County, PA. She is buried in same cemetery. Chapter placed government marker in 1976. Shown in photo is original marker.
Joseph Johnson.  Born 2-28-1745,  Ireland. Died 8-15-1825, Loudon County, TN. Married Margaret Grahm 1781, Charleston, SC. She is buried in same cemetery. He built a mill on Little River, in Blount County in 1796.  Chapter placed government marker in 1976. Family stone.

Robert McCoy

Robert McCoy. Born 1759. Died 1845. Wife named Marjorie. Chapter placed government marker and SAR marker in 1924.
