Activities

Community is important to Genesee members. We work to be sure the public is aware of the three objects of the Daughters of the American Revolution:  


Promotion of Education

  • Donate to all DAR Schools, state scholarship fund, and Junior programs

  • Support the Labels for Education program

  • Participate in the DAR Good Citizenship program in local schools

  • Members volunteer at the Flint Public Library, Flint Genealogy Society, and Genesee County Court House for assistance with genealogy research
     

Patriot Endeavor

  • Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony
  • Lap blankets and personal products donated to veterans at Saginaw Veteran's Hospital
  • Annually participate in the Swartz Creek's Home Town Days Parade

  • Special luncheon programs annually with SAR and other patriotic lineage organizations

  • Collaborate with local Girl Scouts to make holiday cards for veterans

  • Members volunteer for Board of Elections

  • Annual Constitution Week display at the Flint Public Library, obtain Constitution Week proclamations, and luncheons to celebrate Constitution Week and Flag Day

  • Members hand out materials at Naturalization ceremonies and our chapter chairman attends quarterly meetings with the NIS

     

Historic Preservation

  • Rededication of Revolutionary War Patriot's Graves

  • Genealogy workshop with the Flint Historical Society is planned

  • Donate books to the DAR Library, Michigan State Library, Flint Public Library, and the Genesee District Library

  • Participate in Revolutionary War Reenactments in Flint, MI
