General Levin Winder Chapter

Getting to Know Us...

The officers and members of the General Winder Chapter cordially invite all ladies qualified for membership to join us for our monthly catered luncheon meetings. We meet the third Wednesday of the month excluding summer. It is the goal of the chapter to accomplish the work of the Daughters of the American Revolution while maintaining the spirit of co-operation and respect for others that has characterized its proceedings for the past thirty-four years. White Heron

Our membership is made up of native Eastern Shore residents, newcomers, and ladies residing from lower Delaware to southern Worcester County. They bring to us a variety of experiences, from housewives, teachers, business women in the resort industry and retirees from a number of professions.

We live in an area that is rich in history and opportunity to pursue genealogy, historic preservation and folklore, through numerous organizations and facilities devoted to these pursuits. Take note of the many excellent museums shown on the map that are within the boundaries or a very short drive from Worcester county.

sailingOn December 11, 2092, the chapter will make history of its own when the county time capsule is opened after 100 years on the court grounds in Snow Hill. Our contributions to the capsule included the DAR membership pin of deceased member Lolita Lankford, the signatures of our officers, and the handbook in use at the time. The 1992 capsule commemorates the 250th anniversary of the county boundaries designated by Lord Baltimore on December 11, 1742.
